Faux Log Header back to  Custom Work This "Fake" Header was installed as a visual aid as opposed to a structural element.  Roof joists are merely esthetic and after the cutout for the new addition to the house was made, the four cut joists were "hanging" so to speak from ceiling and it didn't look right.  Header was installed to make it appear as if it is bearing the weight of cut joists.  Angle needed to get picture made it hard to show correct perspective, header is about 7-1/2' off of the floor.   Decorative log molding between "old" ceiling paneling and "new" drywall was also custom made.
